Villa Katerina
In Greece, on the picturesque and idyllic Saronic artist island of Hydra, without the noise of cars, motorbikes and bicycles, stands this stately and luxurious villa of around 200 sqm of living space and 180 sqm of terraces and 200 sqm of garden with pool in the harbour village, with a magnificent view of the harbour, which has been awarded several times as the most beautiful harbour of the Aegean, the sea and the Peloponnese opposite.
Hydra enjoys the highest protection as the Acropolis in Greece: no cars, no motorbikes, no bicycles, no noise disturbs the silence over the island. Instead, donkeys and water taxis are available as means of transport.
Villa Katerina – Hydra
The villa has 3 bedrooms and offers accommodation for 6, maximum 10 persons (4 persons can also stay in two of the three rooms). If necessary, additional rooms can be rented in the immediate vicinity.
Position
Villa Katerina is located on the island of Hydra, in the capital, with a dreamlike view over the harbour, out to sea and all the way to the coast on the opposite olive tree slopes of the Peloponnese, with crystal clear water, rolling hills, rugged mountains and sandy and pebble beaches in secluded bays that can only be reached by excursion boat.
In the main town, all shops, pubs, tavernas, cinema, fitness centre, hairdresser, cafes and local shops are within walking distance. Easily accessible opposite is the mainland of the Peloponnese with the fishing village of Ermioni (10 mins by water taxi and 15 mins by car or directly by boat 20 mins) which also has shops, tavernas, cafes, music performances and bars.
The island of Poros can be reached in 30 minutes by public speedboat catamaran, as can the island of Spetses, both very beautiful Saronic islands that invite you to a day trip.
Getting here
Villa Katerina can be reached from Athens airport via Piraeus in one hour, if you choose the fastest route. We can organise the journey with a total of 4 options:
Hire Car
With a rental car, picked up directly at the airport. From the nearest port on the Peloponnese, take the water taxi. (2.5 hours)
Chauffeur service / van
With a driver service / van that picks you up directly at the airport and takes you to the nearest port on the Peloponnese. From there the water taxi takes you further (2.5 hours).
Speedboat
By speedboat (11 m, type Scorpion, 700 hp) with an experienced captain from the port of Piraeus (1 hour).
Catamaran
By public speedboat catamaran in 1.5 hours.
Design
The villa is conceived in the Greek traditional design of a stately home, yet interpreted in a modern way and combined with the finest materials and furnishings. The basic colour is white, combined with light grey, in the traditional style of the island, with turquoise.
And shades of blue that mix with the blue of the sky above the villa and the view of the sea. In the main house, the villa has a spacious eat-in kitchen with fireplace, a living room with fireplace, two bedrooms (each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom) and 2 balconies.
Open picture galleryThe terraces are spacious with various seating options. In the dining area there is an additional outdoor kitchen with a large barbecue and traditional large oven that can bake for up to 12 hours at a time once heated up. The garden flat has its own kitchen, bathroom and bedroom with 2 sleeping accommodations (+ 2 small children), and overlooks the lovely garden full of lavender, lemon trees, pomegranate trees, jasmine, roses, thyme, rosemary, water lilies and bougainvilleas.
The villa is not industrially equipped, but all fixtures were made to order, by hand. All bathrooms are lined with the finest Greek marble, the floor partly too, partly exclusive wooden floorboards in a special colour made to order. Villa Katerina is altogether almost entirely hand-built because there are neither roads nor large equipment available for construction on the island. The houses work with solar energy.
